Why does your cat kill insects, mice, etc?

If you have an indoor cat you
might wonder sometimes why you see your cat catching and killing
a lizard, mouse or other rodent. Since you've fed your feline
companion why does it continue with its killing
action?
The answer is simple. Cats are still are born with their natural instincts
and still feel a need to practice and fine tune their hunting skills.
Current research indicates that a cat or kitten will hunt and kill
its prey even though it isn't hungry. So, although you may have
domesticated your cat and its lived indoors all its life it will
always have an urge to act out its natural instincts.
