There are many benefits for teaching a cat to come when you call. First, it saves time finding your kitty, so you don't have to worry if he or she is lost. Also if you kitty responds to your call you can remove it away from danger by calling him to you.
   The best way of training you cat is to reward it with food. Each time you call your cat and it comes reward him/her with a tasty morsel of food. In time your cat will relate your call to the food. After your cat is trained to your call you may choose to only reward the times it comes the fastest to reinforce that a fast response will be rewarded.
   Never call your cat to punish it in any way...this will undo your training and cats will remember punishment better than the reinforcement.
